This weekend i was running the 3rd national event as well as the Swiss Relay Champs in the French Jura mountains around La Cure - Les Rousses. The terrain was just fantastic and i could really enjoy to run those competitions! We started with the individual competition on saturday. I have never been running in these terrains, so i was very curious about it. The ground was very rough what made the running speed slow, and the demanding relief made it even more tricky. But i found a good way to handle this terrain and finished with an almost clean race. Only on some longer legs i lost the contact to the map for a shot while what costs me some seconds. But it was enough to win the race with a 30 seconds gap to Marc Lauenstein.
map results The Swiss Relay Champs on sunday were situated right beside the terrain of saturday, what means that the same concept was asked. I was running with my clubmates Sebastian Hägler and Dominik Koch on first and second leg. Both of them did a good job and they sent me out to the last leg in second spot, 3mins behind the leader Andreas Kyburz. I knew that in that terrain i can loose more than win, so i decided to take it carefully and not attacking too much. It was a good decision, i caught Andreas at the 8th control. I continued doing my job and some controls later i didn't see him again and i could finish again with a good race. But there were similar problems like on saturday on the longer legs where i lost the contact with the map (2-3; 7-8; 13-14). But of course i was satisfied with the team result, as it is my first Swiss Champs gold in the senior class...
